1930s

Yesterday I spent hours in the closets (there are so many closets!) of a fabulous woman with an epic collection of Alaia, Chanel, Dior, Jitrois, and John Galliano.  I was really taken by both the Dior and Galliano bias cut dresses.  They just look so fresh to me after being rather ubiquitous in the mid to late 1990s and really through the first half of the 21st century.  Can something look fresh?  Anyway, you will tell me when we blog them in the next month.  However in the meanwhile, here is a beautiful black chiffon gown with illustrated floral patern that has what I will cheekly call a lei of beautiful three-dimentional flowers that need a major steaming!  I just think this is a timeless and seasonless dress that is so sophisticated.  It's the type of evening dress that makes you want to play dress up and we could all use a little dress-up in our chaotic lives.  Can't wait to share with you the John Galliano versions of 30s bias cut dresses in the next weeks.
